Liturgy Groups in Kenmare and Direendaragh support the priests in organising the Christmas and Easter liturgies and other celebrations throughout the year such as the Corpus Christi procession. Holy Cross Liturgy Group meets monthly in the Presbytery. Direendaragh Liturgy Group meets whenever necessary.
Each church has a sacristan who organises all the necessary daily duties. The churches also have their own arrangements for organising the rotas
Ministers of the Eucharist
There are approximately 55 Ministers of the Eucharist who assist at the three churches at the weekend Masses and also the weekday Masses at Holy Cross, Kenmare. Ministers serve for a period of one month three times a year. Training of new Ministers takes place during Lent and there is a special evening of reflection and discussion held annually. Ministers of the Word/Readers
Currently there are about 40 Ministers of the Word for the three churches. Readers are scheduled for one weekend Mass in approximately every 10 weeks. Ministers of the Word share a special evening of reflection with the Ministers of the Eucharist and also a training evening in the autumn. - Kenmare Senior Choir
The present Holy Cross Choir draws on a membership of up to 25. They sing at the weekly 8pm vigil Mass, the Christmas and Easter Liturgies and on other special occasions. Rehearsals for the Christmas Liturgies commence at the beginning of October, usually on Thursday nights. New singers are always very welcome. For further information please contact the Parish Office.
- Templenoe Music Ministry
This group of 6 – 8 people has been in operation for several years. They organise and lead the community singing at Mass each Sunday. A program of hymns is drawn up for each month and for specific liturgical periods. For more information please contact Fionan and Joan O’Connell 064 6641028
